8:30 a.m. Steel Blessing Ceremony begins
From May through September 2026, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is transporting an authentic World Trade Center steel beam across the United States. Space Center Houston is the eleventh stop on the beam’s national journey, and the public are invited to the event.
The morning will include remarks from community leaders, firefighters, and Tunnel to Towers Foundation representatives, as well as the presentation of a commemorative steel flag to Space Center Houston. Chief Operating and Strategy Officer Keesha Bullock will deliver closing remarks on behalf of the organization. Visitors will be able to view the 9/11 steel up close, connect with individuals who lived through the tragic events, engage in meaningful educational experiences through the Foundation’s 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit, and more.
Steel Across America is a tribute to a defining moment in American history. The steel, which was recovered by thousands of first responders who rushed to Ground Zero in the days following the attacks, stands as a symbol of sacrifice, resilience, and our unbreakable spirit that emerged from tragedy.
Admission to this event is free and open to the public. The event will be held in the front entrance of Space Center Houston.
