“To the Moon and Back”

Looking to increase the capacity of what your family can accomplish together? Or are you interested in inspiring a love of aerospace and STEM innovation in your family’s youngest crew members? Join Space Center Houston’s world-class Human Performance Accelerator Lab (HPALab) at the Summer Family Accelerator. HPA Lab offers executive training rooted in NASA human research. This elite program unlocks and ignites human potential and performance through hands-on training and the expertise of NASA’s cutting-edge and inspirational strategy, subject matter experts, scientists and astronauts.

Usually targeted to professionals, families are invited to register for this one-day HPALab Summer Family Accelerator. This year, the theme of the program is “To the Moon and Back” saluting NASA’s Artemis mission. Families’ mission goals included experiences that simulate reduced gravity on the moon and building solutions for the ongoing challenge of how lunar regolith impacts equipment. To complete this mission, families will need to work as a team, communicate and think innovatively like NASA’s Artemis II Crew.

Here’s a bit of what your crew will experience during this unique, one-day family accelerator:

  • SIMULATED SPACEWALK EXPERIENCE | Learn how to build an airlock, perform underwater maneuvers, handle rovers and more using scuba gear in a historic pool.
  • AEROSPACE INNOVATION | Test your ingenuity as your family problem solves for protecting astronauts’ spacesuits from the hazards of space.
  • DINNER WITH AN ASTRONAUT | Wrap up a day of growth with an elevated dinner with a NASA astronaut!
