Space Center Houston is celebrating the historical and cultural contributions of Hispanic innovators to the U.S. spaceflight program with a month-long speaker series! Hear from these innovative aerospace-industry professionals as their work charts the future of human spaceflight. These presentations are included with general admission.

Amanda Galloway
2024 Astronaut Scholar at Texas A&M University
Ph.D. student, Rice University
Amanda Galloway is a first year bioengineering PhD student at Rice University. She recently
graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2025 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering.
Her previous research experience has focused on biomedical optics and photonics for
studying cancer metabolism. She hopes to continue in this field for graduate school,
focusing on building imaging devices for early cancer detection in low resource settings.
Amanda is passionate about science advocacy and outreach, ensuring that anyone who is
interested in STEM has the opportunity to learn. The highlight of Amanda’s undergraduate
studies was becoming a 2024 Astronaut Scholar. The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation
has helped Amanda academically, professionally, and personally, allowing for
opportunities she never could have imagined, like speaking at NASA.
