Explore the intersection of space and conservation research with us!
Suggested Explorer Level | Advanced to seasoned explorer.
Innovation and Discovery Circle members are invited to attend an exciting event highlighting an important figure behind human spaceflight. They will embark on a journey through the conclusive authentication of the famed lectern from which John F. Kennedy delivered his historic moon-shot speech. In 2023, Space Center Houston silenced the debate surrounding this significant artifact by ensuring the lecternโs authenticity was thoroughly investigated and confirmed.
Our members will experience an evening of captivation with testimony by our esteemed curation leader, Curator and Director of Collections Paul Spana, together with renowned furniture conservation expert from Pine Art Conservation, Steven Pine. These tales will detail how they embarked on a diligent investigation, authentication and restoration process that preserved the lecternโs historical integrity and allowed Space Center Houston the opportunity to present the true story of this remarkable artifact.
