It’s official. Astronauts are once again launching to the International Space Station from American soil, something that hasn’t been done since the Space Shuttle Program concluded in 2011.
On Saturday, May 30, at 2:22 p.m. CT, America watched as Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley rocketed into orbit in their SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft atop a Falcon 9 rocket. Behnken and Hurley are currently onboard the International Space Station and a return date has not yet been set. NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission is expected to be a two to three month flight.
