Abigail Glover
Student
University of Central Florida (UCF)
Abigail Glover is a student at the University of Central Florida (UCF), earning her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Astronomy. She is a 2024-2025 Astronaut Scholar and a member of the Burnett Honors College. In addition to her coursework, she works with NASA’s Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Human Systems Integration (HSI) team at Kennedy Space Center to prepare for Artemis II and as a project manager for a testbed at UCF’s Exolith Lab. Over the past four years, her research has focused on understanding rover wheels and how they interact with lunar regolith— the fine, dusty material that covers the Moon’s surface. During her work as an undergraduate researcher, she has collaborated with Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), NASA, and the Lunar-VISE team to earn funding for and complete multiple projects spanning from cone penetrometer testing to observing thermal variation of lunar regolith simulant. She is passionate about applying quantitative methods to complex scientific problems to deeply understand the systems we develop on Earth for the safe integration of a permanent human presence beyond our atmosphere.
Outside of research, she is committed to continuous learning, exploring interdisciplinary applications, and engaging with the academic community through clubs such as Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). At this time, Abigail plans to pursue her PhD in Space Resources, focusing on understanding the diverse relationships between different regolith simulants’ complex physical and geotechnical properties to better prepare for future lunar and Martian missions.
