Amanda Galloway
2024 Astronaut Scholar
Rice University
Amanda Galloway is a second-year bioengineering PhD student at Rice University, where she develops low-cost imaging workflows for the early detection of cancer in low-resource settings. She is passionate about science outreach and expanding opportunities for students interested in STEM.
Amanda was a 2024 Astronaut Scholar through the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, which introduced her to the aerospace community and inspired her to pursue opportunities in human spaceflight. Most recently, she served as Commander of the first student-led analog astronaut mission in the United States. Through this experience, she gained valuable insight into the challenges of human spaceflight and the importance of leadership, collaboration, and adaptability. She hopes to use these experiences to contribute to the future of human space exploration.
