From Alternative Roots to Reggae Rock: Live at Moon 2 Mars 2026

Spring Break Meets Space Exploration and Live Music

Space Center Houston’s Moon 2 Mars Festival, presented by Wellby Financial, lands March 11–14, 2026, blending hands-on space exploration with live music and festival energy. The four-day event is built for families, students, space enthusiasts and music lovers alike. By day, you explore space science and technology. By night, you catch live concerts under the stars.

On March 13 and 14, Space Center Houston transforms into a live music venue anchored by two bands that shaped alternative rock across different decades: The Wallflowers and 311. Two nights. Two distinct sounds. One stage set against the skyline of rockets.

Let’s break it down.

Friday night: The Wallflowers

The Wallflowers built their reputation on sharp songwriting and a roots-driven rock sound. Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s and led by Jakob Dylan, the band broke through with the 1996 album Bringing Down the Horse. That record delivered songs like “One Headlight” and “6th Avenue Heartache,” tracks that still hold weight decades later.

Expect a set that draws from their deep catalog and newer releases, balancing nostalgia with evolution. If your taste runs toward alternative rock with substance, Friday night belongs to you.

Saturday night: 311

We’re shifting gears on Saturday, March 14 with a live performance from 311.

311 formed in Omaha in 1988 and carved out a lane few bands have matched. Their sound blends alternative rock, reggae, rap and funk. It is rhythmic. In the mid-1990s, their self-titled breakout album put them on the map with “Down” and “All Mixed Up.” Later tracks like “Amber” expanded their reach. Over three decades, the lineup has remained intact, a rarity in rock. That consistency shows in their live shows: Tight. Energetic. Crowd-driven.
