VIDEO: Thought Leader Series – Astronauts from Around the World

Space is a truly international endeavor. In this Oct. 16 installment of our ongoing Thought Leader Series, presented by the University of Texas Medical Branch, four fliers discuss their lives in space and careers as space explorers as part of the Association of Space Explorer’s Planetary Congress.

British cosmonaut Helen Sharman, NASA astronaut Cady Coleman, JAXA astronaut Koichi Wakata, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield and Romanian cosmonaut Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu will share their mission experiences.

Sharman was the first British citizen in space and the first woman to visit the Mir space station. Coleman flew twice on the shuttle and once to the International Space Station (ISS). Wakata was the first Japanese commander of the ISS. Prunariu was president of the Romanian Space Agency and is a founding member of the Association of Space Explorers. Hadfield was the first Canadian to walk in space and the first Canadian commander of the ISS.
