Space Center Houston Timed Ticketing

Did you know that of the 312 pilots and scientists selected as astronauts since 1959, 180 were Boy Scouts?

Before your visit to Space Center Houston, take a tip from them and be prepared with a new timed ticket. There are two ways to board the tram tour to NASA Johnson Space Center: reserve a free timed ticket for a specific tour time or stand in line for the first available seat.

Timed ticketing means you can avoid the stand-by lines during the busiest times of day and see more of the center until it is time for your tour.

How it works

Before you visit, a free timed ticket can be selected on our website for a designated time. Tickets must be either printed prior to arrival or presented on your mobile device to the Crew Member at the loading area. Your timed ticket for the tour reserves a space for the arrival time frame selected. Tickets are valid only for the arrival time specified. Late arrivals cannot be guaranteed entry at the time specified on your ticket.

In the event that you miss your scheduled tour, we will make every reasonable accommodation, which may include but is not limited to a place on the next available tour if space is available; or placement in the stand-by line. If you miss your timed entrance, please see a Crew Member for assistance.

Please note that the NASA Tram Tour is an open-air tour and visitors are subject to weather conditions. The tours also could be postponed or cancelled if weather conditions are unsafe. Please monitor weather and plan accordingly. Additionally, the tram tour visits NASA, which is a working government facility and entrance to the center and its various buildings are subject to availability. Tours may be rerouted at a moment’s notice or cancelled.

If your timed ticket is during inclement weather, we will make every reasonable accommodation, which may include postponing all timed tickets until inclement weather has passed or we will place the ticket holder in a stand-by line. Once you select your timed visit and proceed to check out, you will receive an email confirmation with an electronic version (PDF) of your ticket attached.

What to do on your visit

On the day of your visit to Space Center Houston, bring your printed or mobile-device version of your timed ticket to the NASA Tram Tour entrance at the back of the building. Arrive any time during your arrival time window to board the next available tour. Present your timed ticket to the Crew Member waiting near the queue.

If you lose your ticket or forget it at home, don’t despair. We also will accept the electronic (PDF) version of your ticket shown on your smartphone or tablet, or you can go to the timed ticket stations at the Guest Services Desk and ask to have it reprinted.

Two other ways to get a timed ticket

Spontaneity is the spice of life. Sometimes, that leads to an impromptu trip to bask in the wonders of space at Space Center Houston.

If you are already at the center but do not have a timed ticket, there are two options to obtain one.

Upon arriving inside the center, go first to the Guest Services Desk. There, a Crew Member can assist you in reserving a spot on one of the tours that day. Timed tickets are limited on these tours, however, so make sure to reserve your spot early.

The second option is to visit our website on a mobile device at spacecenter.org/nowait and reserve a spot. Once you’ve done this, present the email confirmation and the electronic ticket version (PDF) at the tour queue at your designated time.
