Girl Scout Camp-In

Space Center Houston strives to help scouts achieve their individual scout badges and electives by engaging them in an interactive and hands-on learning environment. Each Camp-In is tailored to the individual age of the scouts and the specific scout requirements to help complete the required aspects of a badge or adventure.

Boy Scouts

Work towards your Space Exploration badge.

  • Explore Starship Gallery and the early human space flight missions.
  • Learn how rockets work with Newton’s Laws while designing and building an air-rocket to launch.
  • Design a base on mars that can sustain human life and will return samples of the surface to earth.
  • Receive an in-depth tour of our ISS and Space Shuttle mock-up. Find out how astronauts live and work in a micro-gravity environment.

Please note that Space Center Houston camp-in instructors are NOT certified merit badge counselors and are not able to sign Blue Cards. Space Center Houston DOES NOT provide merit badge worksheets.

Cub Scouts

Wolf Scouts

Wolves will complete activities that work towards fulfilling their Hometown Heroes Adventure requirements.

What does it mean to be a hero? Where can you find a hero? Is your hero…an astronaut? Next door at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, there are several astronauts, engineers, flight directors and many others who are the heroes of human space flight exploration. Discover what it takes to be an astronaut when you partake in hands-on astronaut training courses and explore the history, artifacts and sacrifices of NASA’s heroes throughout our Starship Gallery.

Be prepared to come face-to-face with an astronaut as you embark on a guided tour through the nostalgic decks of the space shuttle similar to where many have trained before going into space! You don’t want to miss this once in a life time opportunity!

Bear Scouts

Bears will complete essential requirements to help earn Robotics Adventure.

  • Robotic Hand: Build and use a real robotic hand to complete several tasks and learn about different types of robots and how useful they can be.
  • Design Your Own Robot: Design and build a robot that can make your own life easier, from cleaning your room to walking your dog or even cooking dinner!
  • Range Rovers: NASA has sent many rovers to Mars – now it’s your turn! Learn how to program your own rover to explore the Martian terrain.

Webelos

Webelos will complete essential requirements to help earn Earth Rocks Adventure by exploring not just our Earth but the moon and the planet Mars as well!

  • Mars Geologic Expedition: Become a Mars field geologist and explore Martian terrain to see what type of rocks and minerals are found on the red planet.
  • Lunar Vault Tour and Moon Rock Creation: Change your perspective and study geology on the moon! Find out what the moon is made of and examine real moon rock samples.
  • Solving A Geological Mystery – You Become the Scientist! Use the Scientific Method to investigate and solve a real life geological mystery that occurs in one of the most desolate and extreme environments in the world – Death Valley.
