Space Center Houston and Coca-Cola Team Up to Refresh Visitors and Support Education Initiatives
Coca-Cola signs on as the new exclusive beverage partner of Space Center Houston
HOUSTON, June 3, 2016 – Delicious drinks are helping to further impact the next generation of explorers as the nonprofit Space Center Houston partners with The Coca-Cola Company as its new exclusive beverage provider.

“This partnership brings together two international organizations with a focus on education and allows Space Center Houston to reach more youth through our educational programs,” said the center’s President and CEO William T. Harris. “With the support of partners like Coca-Cola and our generous donors, we continue to inspire youth through science, technology, engineering and mathematics.”
The largest beverage company in the world and the education foundation Space Center Houston have many similar objectives, including to empower women through educational opportunities and to support sustainability. Coca-Cola’s 5by20TM is a global initiative committed to enabling the economic empowerment of 5 million women entrepreneurs across the company’s value chain by 2020. This initiative offers women access to business skills training, financial services and connections with peers or mentors — along with the confidence that comes from building a successful business. Additionally, Coca-Cola works with global, regional and local partners to increase the amount of sustainably sourced ingredients and to support many environmental and social aspects of sustainability in communities.
Space Center Houston is making an impact by teaching underserved girls and boys in its Youth STEM Academies. Its Girls STEM Academy teaches middle-school girls about robotics, app design and computer programming, while building confidence in construction and experimenting with engineering challenges. The nonprofit earned a prestigious U.S. Department of State grant that unites it with two other science centers in France and Singapore in a collaborative global education project. The grant funds a future-looking six-month initiative focused on teaching youth about space science, technology and global citizenship, bringing the students together at an international summit in June at Space Center Houston. The youth learn about clean water, renewable energy and the nutrition needed to develop a sustainable community on the red planet.
The center’s must-see summer exhibit, “MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition,” is presented with support from Coca-Cola. As seen in the Discovery Channel’s Emmy®-nominated TV series “MythBusters,” the exhibition creates hands-on experiences for visitors of all ages by combining curiosity with scientific facts to uncover the truth behind popular myths in innovative, family-friendly displays.
Space Center Houston’s Zero-G Diner is now serving a wide variety of delicious Coca-Cola beverages with its fresh food. Visitors can enjoy homemade soups, fresh salads, toasted sandwiches, rotating foods from across the globe, burgers, pizza and much more.
