The interactive exhibit, sponsored by the city of Webster, explores the unbelievable world of Robert Ripley with larger-than-life displays, scientific discoveries and real artifacts, plus a bonus of space objects added by Space Center Houston.
“The collection is known for its wonderfully diverse artifacts from across the globe, but Space Center Houston has gone beyond to explore the marvels that lie within space,” said the nonprofit center’s president and CEO Richard E. Allen Jr. “With an up-close look at meteorites and crystal growth from the International Space Station, this new exhibit ignites curiosity and inspires visitors to learn about science.”
Space Center Houston’s exhibit also features a collection of Hubble images in what is the 25th anniversary year of NASA’s famous space telescope. Throughout the exhibit, Ripley’s® legendary compendium comes to life through experiments, touchable specimens, computer interactive exhibits and multimedia experiences.
Robert Ripley was an explorer, adventurer and trailblazing collector who exemplified the spirit of curiosity and adventure that resonates with people of all backgrounds and ages. His collection in the exhibition comprises extreme biology, solar system objects and fantastic feats. It allows visitors to measure up against Robert Wadlow, the world’s tallest man who grew to 8 feet 11 inches (2.72 meters) tall, and view a model replica of the International Space Station made of matchsticks, the world’s smallest production automobile and a portrait of Albert Einstein made of toast.
Tickets at the door range from $18.95 for children to $23.95 for adults with discounts for seniors and active military. Admission is one convenient price to see all of the center including access to all exhibits. Save $3 and skip the ticket lines by buying online, or become a Space Center Houston Member for as little as $26.95 and return free as often as you like during the year with free parking, special events and much more.
