Space Center Houston’s New App Offers an Enhanced Visitor Experience
HOUSTON, Jan. 14, 2019 – In its continuing efforts to expand access to the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) pathway, Space Center Houston now offers a new free app for an interactive mobile experience. It’s available now and features self-guided virtual tours, augmented reality, videos and audio stories about the future and historic feats in human space exploration.
The mobile museum guide is an integral part of the science and space exploration learning center’s dedication to provide an immersive learning experience and ignite curiosity in the next generation of explorers.
To meet the growing need to make science learning accessible, Space Center Houston is expanding the way people can learn about space exploration and its more than 400 things to see and do. The new Space Center Houston app is designed to enhance the guest experience and utilizes technology to connect everyone to STEM learning. It’s an accessible visitor experience including the VoiceOver feature, which allows the user to hear voice descriptions navigating the app, curated audio content about the rich history of human space exploration and an array of descriptions about the center’s galleries and artifacts that are part of humankind’s greatest endeavors. To empower guests from around the world with space exploration, the app is offered in multiple languages including German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, French and English.
Plan for an unforgettable, stress-free visit – download the app prior to arriving. Engage with augmented reality experiences, learn about special events, create a favorites list, review show times, buy tickets and guided tours all within the app. Guests can receive notifications about relevant museum content specific to their location in the museum. Navigate around the center using the interactive map and take a 360° virtual tour.
