Get ready to go Above and Beyond at Space Center Houston!
Above and Beyond, presented by Boeing and made possible locally by Coca-Cola, explores past, present and future aerospace innovation in one of the most interactive and immersive aerospace exhibits ever to tour.
This hands-on exhibit brings flight to life through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Experience immersive videos, simulations, interactive galleries and design challenges and hear inspiring stories from past and present innovators.
Soar like a bird, take a ride in an elevator to outer space, design and fly your very own supersonic jet. Experience flight like never before with Above and Beyond, April 21 – Sept. 9.
Grab a high-flying preview of the five interactive galleries featured in Above and Beyond:
Take off with virtual activities that explore the challenges faced when overcoming the obstacle of gravity. Spread your wings and learn about lift, thrust and drag as you transform into a virtual bird through motion-sensing technology. Discover the concepts that will make future aircraft more environmentally friendly and faster. Take flight through virtual 3-D aircraft models that let you experience how flight works.
Push the boundaries of speed in flight by going full throttle. Design your own virtual fighter jet and race against other pilots in a high-speed match. Learn about wind tunnels and how they can be used to understand the effects of aerodynamics on high-speed flight.
Travel to new heights as you explore the challenges of high-altitude flight through the international space elevator, which will take you into Earth orbit aboard a futuristic simulated space elevator.
Go the distance and learn how to fly farther, faster and more efficiently. Take a trip to Mars with an augmented reality experience that helps illustrate the challenges of the journey. Explore the parts and materials that are enabling aircraft and spacecraft to fly more efficiently. Peek at exciting innovations in air and space that are opening new frontiers.
Learn about emerging technologies that are a product of flight and innovation. Step up for your chance to eliminate space debris through a virtual timed challenge. Discover technologies that transform air space. Take a closer look at remotely piloted technology by launching your own unique Roboflyer that you can take on a mission of your choosing.
Above and Beyond promotes STEM-based learning. It inspires all generations to pursue careers in aerospace and allows them to discover the immense impact of global aerospace innovations on the world, from the earliest powered flights to the future of space exploration.
