Students Win National Contest!

Space Center Houston welcomed the 5th grade class winners of the 2008 Southwest Adopt-A-Pilot CAREER TAKEOFF National Contest. Out of 27,0000 students who participated in the program this year, Mrs. Sherri Duggan’s class from Poetry, Texas were the recipients of the Captain’s Award; a day long “flying field trip” to Space Center Houston! The class and their chaperones departed from Dallas Love Field and landed at Houston Hobby Airport, and then spent the day exploring here at SCH.

The class won the contest by submitting a stunningly creative portfolio that profiled 4 chosen career paths;Marine Biologist, Professional Soccer Player, Hair Stylist and Dog Trainer. The Adopt-A-Pilot Career Takeoff contest is an effort to educate and inspire students to stay in school and learn about future career options.

Congratulations to the smart and creative students and to Mrs. Duggan for being an inspiration to her class. There’s no doubt these kids have a very bright path ahead! Thanks for visiting Space Center Houston, and who knows, there might be future astronauts in this group!
