HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES:

ELEMENTARY (GRADES K-2):
Prepare for space like an astronaut! Cadets will sample simulated space food and create a mission patch before lift-off. They will then learn to fly the shuttle and how to complete a mission in space. At the end of this engaging educational experience, each cadet will receive a personalized certificate in celebration of successfully completing training.

ELEMENTARY (GRADES 3-5):
Have you ever wondered why astronauts have to wear suits in space? Your students will be amazed as they discover what reduced gravity and the vacuum of space do to the human body. Participants will learn first-hand how to solve complex problems when faced with engineering and situational challenges.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES (GRADES 6-8):
Things don’t always go as planned in space flight. Because of this, astronaut candidates go through extreme training their first year to build endurance, stamina and character. While it may sound like a reality television competition, the prize for astronaut candidates is a real-life mission on the International Space Station. Just like astronauts, students will be challenged to use critical thinking skills to determine the best course of action for surviving the catastrophic impact of losing supplies or becoming stranded.

HIGH SCHOOL (GRADES 9-12):
Live the dream and dive head first into the world of NASA engineers! Communication and teamwork are emphasized as students construct a spaceport exterior prototype that must be able to withstand the harsh environment of space where temperatures can range from -250°F to 250°F. Participants will also create a two-stage rocket of their own design that they will watch blast off the next day!
