Independence Plaza Campaign

Some of the greatest achievements in space exploration were a product of the Space Shuttle Program. Now, NASA’s first and most-traveled shuttle carrier aircraft is at Space Center Houston with the high-fidelity shuttle replica Independence mounted on top in the classic ferry position.

When completed, Independence Plaza will be an international landmark. Only at Space Center Houston will visitors be able to go inside both the shuttle replica and the aircraft.

Most importantly, the shuttle complex and surrounding exhibits will expand and enhance Space Center Houston’s award-winning educational programs that motivate students to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

You can help this amazing exhibit come to life.

We still need to raise $2.2 million in our $12 million capital campaign called Bring the Legacy Home. Please join our many generous donors in honoring the remarkable story of the shuttle program but even more importantly, inspiring the next generation of explorers to forge their own way in this amazing universe.
