Space Exploration Educators Conference

SEEC - Space Exploration Educators Conference

February 6-8, 2014

 

This conference is for Grades K-12 – and not just for science teachers! Space Center Houston strives to use space to teach across the curriculum. The activities presented can be used for science, language arts, mathematics, history, and more!

Space Center Houston is proud to continue offering the educational opportunity of a lifetime! Experience three days of complete submersion into the out-of-this world adventure of space exploration! Attend sessions hosted by the actual scientists and engineers working on these exciting endeavors including the International Space Station, Mars exploration, and the planets beyond. Hear from the astronauts leading the charge in exploration! Come learn about the bold vision to send humans back to the Moon and off to Mars! Attend sessions presented by educators and receive ready to implement classroom ideas and experience minds-on, hands-on fun! Network with fellow educators, take back a multitude of cross curriculum ideas and activities and earn 24 hours of Continuing Professional Education credit.

Explanation of Pricing:

Presenters - If you are presenting a session at SEEC and plan to attend sessions you will receive the discounted price to attend.

NASA Presenters - NASA partners who are planning on only presenting a session will receive the free admission.

Early-Late Registration - If you plan on attending sessions but are not presenting the price depends on when you register for SEEC.

 

SEEC Scholarships

Due to a generous donation from the Albert and Ethel Herzstein Charitable Foundation. We have a limited number of scholarships available for teachers to attend SEEC. Scholarships are available on a first come first serve basis. Applicant will by notified by the mid December if they have been selected to receive the scholarship. Scholarships cover conference registration only.

Cherri Brinley Award

Do you know an outstanding educator that will be attending SEEC? Space Center Houston will be presenting the annual Cherri Brinley Space Science Educator Award.  Recipient will be chosen from your nominations, for his/her special achievements in Space Science education. It is not too late to nominate your outstanding colleague. Get more nomination details here.

Hotels

To be determined.
We will have buses that will pick up and drop off attendees each morning and evening from these hotels.
During the conference should you need to return to your hotel there will be a presenter/hotel bus that can take you. A bus schedule will be posted on-line and at each hotel the week of the conference.

How can I Present?

Space Center Houston is looking for 170 interactive, hands-on sessions that present exciting classroom activity for students. Sessions that provide hand-outs, ready-to-implement activities and units are required.

We will begin accepting proposals June 1st  and continue accepting proposals through September 6, 2012. Late proposals will only be accepted if presentation spots are still available. E-mail seec@spacecenter.org to find out if spots are still open after the September 6th date.

Optional Thursday Event
Back by popular demand – "Taste of Space" Epicurean Evening! The event will take place at Space Center Houston. This event is a cultural experience showcasing the Clear Lake Area's finest restaurants, food and beverages. All of your food and alcoholic/nonalcoholic beverages are included in the $20 Epicurean Registration Fee.

The reception, "A Taste of Space" is casual attire. Bus transportation will be provided to and from conference hotels beginning at 6:30pm and ending at 9:30pm


SEEC Banquet Experience
The capstone for the conference is the infamous SEEC banquet, where teachers are treated to an out-of-this-world evening of dining and dancing.
